HARVEY @ Lewiston Civic Theatre

Close

April 3, 2014

The story is centered on Elwood P. Dowd, a goodnatured, mild-mannered eccentric who is known in all of the cafeterias and saloons in his small town. Elwood is polite and cheerful and always friendly toward any strangers he might encounter, and he has just one problematic character trait: his best friend is an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit, Harvey. Wherever he goes, he brings an extra hat and coat for Harvey, and he buys theater tickets and railroad tickets in twos so that they can go everywhere together. His sister and her daughter try to have Elwood committed to the local sanitarium, where the behavior of the prominent psychologist and his staff raise the age old question of who is more dangerous to society: the easy-going dreamer with a vivid imagination or the people who want him to conform to the accepted version of reality.

Joe Nichols in Concert

April 12, 2014

With his hit songs like “Brokenheartsville,” “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off,” and “Sunny and 75” just to name a few, Joe Nichols firmly established himself as one of the leading neo-traditionalists in country music. His uncanny knack for balancing heart-breaking ballads and message songs with humorous and breezy tunes that bring a smile to the face made Nichols an instant favorite with country fans. With tall and dark good-looks and a soothing and emotive baritone reminiscent of Hall of Famer, Don Williams, Nichols’ easy and laid-back style is a breath of fresh air to an industry that, at times, seems hell-bent on running away from its traditional roots.
